At the conclusion of each GP season, an awards ceremony is held to celebrate the year’s champions, crowning the top riders in each category, the top manufacturers, and even the top venue for the season.

This year, the honors of the latter went to familiar locale, as the Red Bull Indianapolis GP round was named the “Best Grand Prix” of the 2014 season, making it the first North American round to receive such an honor.

Selection criteria for the award included consideration of the venue, promotion, and overall facility operations. For the 2014 race, Indianapolis Motor Speedway once again repaved its infield section, making alterations to several turns in order to facilitate passing and adding to the track’s overall consistency. In response to those efforts, the new configuration was widely praised by the GP competitors.

“We’re delighted to be recognized by MotoGP. This award is a testament to our organization’s ability to host world-class events across all forms of motorsports,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s President. “We’re looking forward to another great Red Bull Indianapolis GP in 2015.”

With the Indianapolis GP weekend including flat track racing at the Indy Mile, as well as the Motorcycles on Meridian gathering, there are plenty of off-track attractions for racing and motorcycle fans, in addition to Indy’s general racing enthusiast culture. Drawing over 132,000 attendees over the race weekend, Indianapolis was the 8th most populous GP event on the 2014 calendar.

The Red Bull Indianapolis GP will return for the 2015 season, with the new MotoAmerica series running as a support class, on August 7th thru 9th. We hope to see you there.
