Could 2014 be another record year of sales for Ducati? If the first six months are any indication, maybe so, as the Bologna brand has reported a 3% increase in sales thus far for the year.
Ducati has sold 26,740 motorcycles so far this year, worldwide, and is aiming to top its all-time record of 44,287 units by the end of the year. Additionally, orders for the month of June were up 11%, causing Ducati to be optimistic about its performance in 2014.
If Ducati does continue on its trend, a 3% increase for 2014 would mimic the company’s sales figures for the third year in a row, with three consecutive years in the low forty-four thousands, volume-wise.
Releasing the new Monster 1200 and Monster 821 so far this year, as well as updating the Ducati Diavel and Hypermotard SP, Ducati has been keeping its lineup fresh, though perhaps not as alluring as it has in the past.
Time will tell if bikes like the Ducati Scrambler can continue the forward momentum the Italians had through the recession, or if 2014 will mark a trend in Ducati’s sales stagnation.
