The rumormill regarding whether Repsol Honda’s three rider-team will endure for the 2012 MotoGP season has been in full-swing lately, and paddock rumors have pegged Andrea Dovizioso, the only Repsol Honda rider whose contract is up at the end of the season, as moving out into a satellite Honda team. Whether that means Dovizioso lands in LCR, Gresini, or some other team has been the subject of much gossip, rumor, and speculation. Though an answer appears to be coming this weekend, according to Dovi.
All of this chatter seems to be coming to a head, as Andrea Dovizioso spoke after the Free Practice sessions today saying, “this weekend my manager will speak about that, and I hope Honda will have more answers about the future. It all depends on the money from Honda.” Andrea would go on to say that the most important thing for him was a factory Honda RC213V for next year.
With an announcement on Dovi’s future team likely coming Sunday after the Czech GP or Monday after the 1,000cc test, the Italian GP rider was coy on where he would land, though he was almost definitive on where he would not be next year, “I think there’ no possibility to have a third bike in Repsol, so…”
