Spotted at the Japanese Motorcycle Expo, Yamaha has a “corporate” themed YZF-M1 on display next to their Rossi and Lorenzo race bikes. Presumably, the blue & white racer will be the bike that Ben Spies will ride at his wild card entrance at the Valencian GP.
Ben Spies has finally confirmed that he will be leaving WSBK racing at the end of the 2009 season. Next year he will join fellow Texan, Colin Edwards, on the Monster Tech3 Yamaha satellite team. Before that though, there’s a simple matter of closing in on the 10 points that Noriyuki Haga leads Spies by in the World Superbike Championship standings. Maybe this bike is the carrot that Spies needs?
