The 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 got an early preview today (no, another service manual was not leaked ahead of schedule), as a model of the bike was on-hand for the Piaggio Group’s grand opening of its new office in Milan. Releasing the first official image of the Dorsoduro 1200, Aprilia hasn’t dropped too many surprises on us. Noticeable in the shot is the optional ABS package, and we get news that the 2010 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 will use a different traction control system that will be found on the 2011 Aprilia RSV4 Factory.
At the heart of the 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 is an all new 1200cc 90° v-twin motor that’s good for 130+ hp and 84.81 lbs•ft of torque. Throttle control comes from Aprilia’s ride-by-wire technology, and the bike will feature a three-mode engine map selector. The ABS operates independently for the front and back, and both channels can be independently disabled by the rider.
Suspension on the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 is done by Sachs, and comes with USD forks with adjustable hydraulic damping (that seems to be Aprilia code for fully-adjustable) and a piggy-back rear shock with adjustable pre-load, rebound, and compression. Brakes will be 320mm radials up front with four pistons per caliper, while the rear will be 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper.
We expect the official launch of the 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 to occur at EICMA this year, along with our first real glimpse at the highly anticipated 2011 Aprilia Tuono V4.
