Yamaha SR400 owners should take notice, as Yamaha Motor USA has issued a recall for the model, from the 2015 model year through 2018.
The issue stems from the engine oil line flare nut, which may be insufficiently tightened, and allow oil to leak onto the rear tire. In total, just over 1,900 units are affected by the recall.
According to recall documents, the original tightening torque spec of 35Nm was insufficient for the application, and that a new tightening torque specification of 50Nm should be used.
To remedy the issue, Yamaha will notify affected owners, and Yamaha dealers will inspect the flare nut connection. If oil is not leaking, the nut will be tightened. If oil is leaking, the engine oil line will be replaced and the flare nut will be tightened, free of charge.
