Another model that we expected to see debut at the 2018 EICMA show, the Kawasaki Z400 is a logical evolution of the small-displacement lineup that Team Green is creating.
Built in conjunction with the Kawasaki Ninja 400 sport bike, the Z400 is the naked option for the street for new riders, short riders, and riders that want to do more with less.
This means that the 2019 Kawasaki Z400 has a 399cc parallel-twin engine, that produces 45hp (33.4 kW), which is a 6hp increase over the 300cc model that it replaces.
The 400cc engine design is of course an all-new engine for Kawasaki, and it physically is about the same size as the company’s venerable 250cc motor that powered the Ninja 250R for so long.
Adding some premium parts to the mix, the 2019 Kawasaki Z400 comes with a assist/slipper clutch. The engine is a stressed member of the frame, which helps reduce the overall weight of the Z400. As such, it tips the scales at 368 lbs (167 kg) at the curb.
Other features found on the Kawasaki Z400 include larger diameter front forks (41mm) for better feedback and rigidity, a larger front disc brake (310mm), a larger rear tire (150/60R17), and an LED headlight. Booyah!
Confirmed for the European market, and the United States as well, the 2019 Kawasaki Z400 ABS will be priced at $4,799 MSRP.
