We have seen a few recalls from BMW Motorrad North America lately, and now we can add another to the tally. In this latest recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), we see 447 units from BMW’s R series of bikes involved in a recall.
As such, BMW is recalling the BMW R1250 RT, R1250R, R1250RS, R1250GS, and R1250 GS Adventure motorcycles from the 2021 model year for issues with its tire pressure labels.
Specifically, the tire pressure labels may not remain affixed to the motorcycle frame over time, which would result in the motorcycles failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, “Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars.”
To remedy the issue, BMW Motorrad North America will notify affected owners, and BMW dealers will replace the tire pressure label, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 12, 2020.
Concerned BMW owners may contact BMW Motorrad customer service at 1-800-525-7417. As always, the NHTSA is also available at 1-888-327-4236 and safercar.gov.
