Four years after its first debut, the Ducati SuperSport is finally getting an update. As such, say hello to the 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950.
At first glance, the new bodywork is the obvious change coming with the Ducati SuperSport 950, as the Ducati Style Centre has taken some inspiration from the Panigale V4 and added it to this sport-tourer.
As such, note the extra gils on the side fairings, which now extend all the way to the exhaust outlet, helping hide the exhaust collector and catalytic converter in the bellypan.
Underneath the fairings though, we find a now Euro5 compliant 937cc Ducati Testastretta 11° v-twin engine, which is producing 108hp (81 kW) in peak power and 69 lbs•ft (93 Nm) of torque.
The chassis remains a steel trellis design, with a single-sided swingarm. The engine used a stressed member though, and with the frame elements building off its two cylinder heads.
There are brains to the brawn too, with Ducati equipping the SuperSport 950 with a six-axis IMU that controls the cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, wheelie control.
There is also an up/down quickshifter in the mix, standard on both the base and “S” models, and everything is controlled by a 4.3″ TFT dash unit.
Coloring aside, the big difference between the Ducati SuperSport 950 and Ducati SuperSport 950 S can be found on the bikes’ suspension, as the S model boasts Öhlins mechanical pieces, whereas the base model uses Marzocchi forks and a Sachs shock.
The SuperSport 950 S also sports a removable solo seat cowl, and a red tag on its cast aluminum wheels.
With the base model 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 coming with a price tag of $13,495 MSRP, the extra $2,300 for the 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 S ($15,795 MSRP) might not be enough differentiation for eager buyers.
