Of course, when we see updates coming to the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade for next year, we can expect a similar treatment of the 2022 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP (say that three times fast).
Like its sibling, the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP sees its inline-four engine massaged for better mid-range grunt, while maintaining its 214hp (160 kW) peak power figure.
Those changes engine include new intake ports, airbox, airbox funnels, and a revamped exhaust mid-section. The rear sprocket gets three teeth added to (43T in total) as well, for extra acceleration throughout the gearbox.
Updates to the bike’s traction control system and ride-by-wire throttle are also present for 2022, helping cure some of our negatives about the bike when we tested it. All-in-all, this seems like a more refined superbike package from Big Red.
And all of this is well and good, but we think the thing that will really get your attention is the new limited edition model, which features a throwback livery that gives a nod to the 1992 Honda Fireblade.
Coming as the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP 30th Anniversary, the naming scheme from Honda is getting downright ridiculous, but the machine is positively beautiful.
The bodywork design was done by Mr. Hiroaki Tsukui, who was responsible for the original Fireblade livery in 1992, and the look is capped with a blue seat.
When you start the 30th Anniversary Fireblade, the TFT gives a “ring of fire” animation, and each bike is numbered on its top triple clamp. Markings are also made on the smartkey fob and Akrapovic exhaust.
Will we see the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP 30th Anniversary in the United States? We certainly hope so. Of note though, Honda hasn’t mentioned pricing for this rad retro. Hold onto your wallets.
