Debuting its next generation of airbag safety equipment at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Alpinestars Tech-Air airbag product line is getting a substantial updated for 2022.

All-in-all, the release sees the debut of three all-new system: Tech-Air 10 race track system, Tech-Air 3 over/under vest, and Tech-Air OFF-ROAD V2 protection jacket.

Alpinestars Tech-Air Off-Road V2

The new off-road airbag offering from Alpinestars is first in the two-wheeled space, and comes after Alpinestars developed the package in the past three Dakar Rally races (featuring as a racer-only system that was available last year).

Now coming as a protection jacket, the Alpinestars Tech-Air OFF-ROAD V2 has integrated arm armor, and the airbag covers the shoulders, back, and chest of the rider.

The Alpinestars Tech-Air 10 is set to debut around October 2022, and when it does, it will retail for $899.95 MSRP.

The debut of the Alpinestars Tech-Air OFF-ROAD V2 is perhaps the most important product launch of 2022. As such, we have a dedicated story on its debut with more details – give it a read.

Alpinestars Tech-Air 10

The Alpinestars Tech-Air 10 is the company’s new race-track focused airbag system, which has protection for the rider’s shoulders, chest, full back, and hips.

The addition of hip protection is especially important, and a first in the consumer space for motorcycle riders. Because of this added protection, however, the Tech-Air 10 is a single-deployment system, and must be sent back to Alpinestars to get repacked after use.

For 2022, the Tech-Air 10 has been made into a wearable undersuit, which can be worn inside any Tech-Air ready leather suit.

Like the Tech-Air Race, the Tech-Air 10 has 12 sensors. It features 24 hours of riding time, and has an integrated CE Level 2 back protector.

Interestingly, there is an LED battery panel that is removable and connects to the suit via Bluetooth. On Tech-Air 10 compatible suits, this LED panel can be put on a dedicated mount in the sleeve, but on other suits it can be mounted where the rider sees fit, like on the dash of the motorcycle.

For those without a Tech-Air ready suit, Alpinestars says that the Tech-Air 10 can be worn under any suit that has 4cm of space around the circumference of the rider’s chest and 2cm around the circumference of the rider’s hips. However, our experience in this space is that suits tend not to fit very well under these requirements.

Pricing is set at $999.95 and should be available around April or May of this year.

Alpinestars Tech-Air 3

For those that want to wear airbag protection over their riding gear, there is the Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 “jacket” which looks a lot more like a vest, if you ask us.

The Tech-Air 3 is available in men’s and women’s versions, both with an ergonomically designed and dedicated fit. The Tech-Air 10 LED panel can also be used on the Tech-Air 3, if one happens to own both systems.

The vest has only a single-deployment’s worth of air, but it is user-serviceable, which is especially hand. The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 also boasts 32 hours of riding time, weighs 3.7 lbs, and incorporates reflective elements.

You can expect to see the Tech-Air 3 available in mid-2022, with a price tag of $599.95 MSRP. Of note, the Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 also continues in the lineup for 2022.
