What happens when you release the most anticipated, and we’d argue the most important, superbike in the company’s history? Well you have a record month of sales, of course. It should be unsurprising then that Ducati North America posted a 49% sales growth last month, making May 2012 the company’s best month ever sales-wise. Ducati North America pushed 1,782 units in May, for a total of 4,844 units sold in January thru May (up 19% over 2011, and 98% over 2010).
Ducati North America is citing the 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale and the 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 as the two models responsible for the record sales, though we imagine it is the prior model, not the latter, that is doing the lion’s share of the work on the dealership floors.
“This fantastic result confirms the customer’s enthusiasm for our brand that has led us to double our sales in just 24 months,” said Cristiano Silei, Ducati Vice President of Global Sales and CEO of Ducati North America. “The increasing appeal of our expanding product line, our experience-based marketing strategy and the strengthening of our dealer network, represent the key building blocks that will continue to fuel our future growth.”
