Double the pleasure, double the fun, that’s the Supersport TT at the Isle of Man TT. Along with the Sidecar class, the supersport riders get two goes of things on the Mountain Course, and for Michael Dunlop that meant another golden opportunity to dominate this year’s TT.
Having three wins so far this fortnight to his name, and always one of the top picks on the 600cc machines, the Irish rider is looking on-point going into the second Monster Energy Supersport TT. With the Isle once again blessing riders with sunny skies and warm weather, the stage was set for another day of great road racing. Race report after the jump.
Can you count to four? Michael Dunlop can, because that’s how many race wins he has amassed so far in this TT, claiming his fourth TT trophy in today’s Monster Energy Supersport TT. It wasn’t an easy victory though, as Dunlop had to chase down Bruce Anstey, who lead every sector of the race until the final lap.
To overcome the Kiwi’s pace, Dunlop would have to set another Supersport class record lap, dropping some 128.667 mph action over the Mountain Course. The second-place finish was a tough result for Anstey, as he has been battling all week what the locals call the Manx flu.
Rounding out third-place was John McGuinness, with his fourth podium of the 2013 Isle of Man TT (and his best Supersport lap ever). This result brings McPint on par with Joey Dunlop’s number of podium finishes, with both of the TT legends having 40 podiums apiece. A second behind McGuinness, William Dunlop would have to settle with fourth place.
