Can-Am Adds Touring Model to Spyder Line-Up

Bombardier is expanding its Can-Am line, and adding a touring model to the Sypder trike offering. Called the Spyder RT, the 3-wheeler was made specifically because so many customers expressed an interest in a highway tourer. The RT joins the RS sport model, which has seen strong sales and a rabid customer base that evangelize the brand.

Powered by a Rotax 991 motor, the RT looks like the RS with a Goldwing seat attached to the back. The added cushioning should make the miles go by more easily, but at the core of the RT is the same RS pedigree that makes the miles go by quickly.

The RT feature BRP’s electronic throttle control, and BOSCH-engineered Vehicle Stability System (VSS), as found in the Spyder RS roadster. The RT also borrows the RS’s anti-lock breaks, traction control, and stability control.

New for the Spyder series is the RT’s trailer package, which will making hauling long distances even that much more comfortable and convenient to riders. The trailer adds as additional 22 ft³ of storage, and is compatible with the vehicle’s stability system.

Making with the hyperbole is Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, of BRP’s International division:

“BRP’s superior design and innovation continues to deliver paradigm-shifting vehicles that push the envelope, and the RT model is no exception. The new platform goes well with what touring riders demand and there is no doubt in my mind the Can-Am Spyder RT is going to forever change the touring motorcycle category.”

If you’re bored at work this Monday, print out some of these buzzword bingo cards, pass them around the office, and have a ball with that statement.

You can get the Roadster tourer in three trim level: RT, RT Audio & Connivence, & RT-S, depending on how much comfort your wallet will afford.
