According to Visordown, Honda has been forced to push back the release date of its new CBR300R small-displacement sport bike, which was scheduled to roll out next month. The replacement for the Honda CBR250R, the CBR300R will not be rolling into UK showrooms until late 2014, nine months behind schedule.

A stroked-out version of the Honda CBR250R’s single-cylinder engine, the Honda CBR300R to 286cc, giving it a maximum of 30.4 hp at 8500 rpm and 19.9 lbs•ft of torque.

Despite a re-mapped fuel system, the extra four horsepower and additional torque reduce its gas mileage to 71 mpg, compared with the 77 mpg of its predecessor.

After not stacking up so well against the competition, namely the Kawasaki Ninja 300, with the CBR250R, Honda is hoping that the CBR300R will come a bit closer to keeping up with its rivals, and we will be looking forward to its release to see if it can do just that.
