Team Agni took first place at the 2009 TTXGP at Isle Of Man by a large margin upsetting many favorites. Many eyes have been on Arvind Rabadia to see where his team would go racing for 2010. There are currently three separate electric race organizations, TT Zero (Isle of Man), e-Power (FIM) and TTXGP (eGrandPrix). For those new to the electric race landscape don’t confuse these 3 separate organizations with the 3 separate regional series that make up the 2010 TTXGP. The 8 highest placing teams from each of these regional series meet in Albacete, Spain for a final to decide the champion for 2010.
At this point not many of the major electric race teams have revealed their 2010 plans. Team Agni competing at all three TTXGP regionals could be a big draw for teams who want to beat the 2009 champions. It will be interesting to see if Team Agni signs on for e-Power as well. It seems Team Agni will not be at TT Zero as it falls on the same weekend as the second stop of the North American TTXGP round at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin as they fall on the same date. MCN mentions some feel Team Agni will soon sign on for the TT. It is very possible they will just skip Elkhart Lake or if they have the budget a team at both events. Stay tuned, we should learn more shortly. See the full press release after the break.
Agni Motors has today confirmed that they will enter all three regional TTXGP championships.
Based in Finchley, London, with its now famous motors made in India, Agni team boss Arvind Rabadia is delighted to be able to race his winning teams’ bike in all three TTXGP championships. He said today “We are very excited to participate in the second year of this groundbreaking race series. Last year was fantastic. Agni Motors won the Worlds first zero carbon race, winning the TTXGP 2010 world series would be an even bigger achievement. We believe TTXGP provides a fantastic race series and generate fantastic promotional opportunities. We are happy to see the TTXGP continue to grow, attract teams, and add events to its calendar, we look forward to racing with TTXGP all over the world.
With 13 dates announced in 2010, Agni motors is honoured to be in a position to take advantage of this world race series and the level of success of TTXGP, in pushing technology, innovation and promoting the EV industry. We feel we have a great partnership with TTXGP in propelling the electric industry into a new and much bigger dimension.”
Agni Motors set the standard in zero carbon racing last year; this small hardworking unassuming team was at the centre of attention during TTXGP 2009 when it crossed the finish line with a lap time that was 25 minutes 53 seconds. About 3 minutes ahead of its nearest rival and with an average speed of 87.4 miles per hour over 37 3/4 miles of road. They have set a very high standard for electric bikes and are the team to beat. Azhar Hussain “We are very pleased Agni decided to join TTXGP for all three regional championships. It means that any team entering any TTXGP championship will be able to put their bike against the proven best in the world! 2010 is going to be a fantastic year for zero carbon racing, we are inviting teams to come and join in and take part in what has already proven to be the definitive start of the next generation of motorsport.”
