KTM 1290 Super Duke GT Debuts with Proper Updates for 2022

One of my favorite bikes in the motorcycle industry just got better for the upcoming model year, as the Austrians have just taken the wraps off the updated 2022 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.

Making 175hp in its Euro5-spec, the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is a serious sport bike, but KTM has worked hard to give the bike the chops to go long distances as well.

For the 2022 model year, this means APEX semi-active suspension from WP, and a revised chassis, borrowed from the current-generation KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO.

A massive 7″ TFT dash has been fitted to the 2022 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT, with a revised layout. The switchgear has also been upgraded, all in the hope of adding a more premium feel to this orange touring bullet.

Continuing the massive trend, the new Super Duke GT boasts a 6-gallon fuel tank, which should be more than enough fuel to reach the horizon.

Astute eyes will notice that the wheels on the Super Duke GT are a direct bolt-on from the Super Duke R, which means they drop 1kg of mass (2 lbs) over the old units.

KTM is also boasting that the updated Super Duke GT will be the first bike in its lineup to use an all-new navigation system called Turn-by-turn PLUS which will further enhance the touring experience. TBT+ will be available via KTM Connect, and is powered by Sygic.

It allows navigation instructions to be projected directly onto the dash, and is supposed to help riders navigate more effectively.

Expect to see it on other KTM models in the future, which may or may not be a good thing, considering out past experience with Sygic and KTM’s attempts at smartphone navigation.

The 2022 KTM 1290 Super Duke GT is expected to hit dealerships in January 2022, though it remains to be seen if it is coming to the United States. We would bet that it is not, which is a damn shame.
