Where there is a new Yamaha MT-10 for the 2022 model year, there is also a new 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP up-spec model. Debuting just ahead of this year’s EICMA show in Milan, the new MT-10 SP is a formula you can probably guess at.
In addition to new styling, which you are either going to love or hate (there is no middle road here), the updated MT-10 features an updated Euro5 motor, which gains 5hp (4 kW), for a peak power figure of 162hp (122 kW).
Smartly, Yamaha has also added a six-axis IMU to the mix, which brings lean-sensitive traction control and wheelie control to the electronics package. An up/down quickshifter and 4.2″ TFT dash are now standard equipmunk as well.
Yamaha has also fitted a radial Brembo master cylinder to the brakes package, which is mated to dual 320mm discs at the front.
The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP takes things to the next level though, adding Öhlins semi-active suspension, a three-piece belly pan, and steel braided brake lines.
While those last two items might get an eyeroll, the addition of Öhlins SMART EC 2.0 electronic suspension is a huge feature for this capable street bike. The whole things tips 472 lbs, wet at the curb.
Though we are getting today’s news from Yamaha Motor Europe, we will see the 2022 Yamaha MT-10 SP coming to the USA with a price tag of $16,899 MSRP.
That puts the Yamaha MT-10 SP as the value buy in the liter-bike streetfighter category, and should turn some heads of buyers who are considering more premium European brands.
