Buell SuperTouring 1190 Model Debuting This Weekend

If you are in Daytona, Florida this weekend, then in addition to the usual Bike Week festivities and Daytona 200 race, you will have the chance to be one of the first to see the first new Buell motorcycle in quite a while.

This is because Buell Motorcycles is getting ready to unveil its Buell SuperTouring 1190 sport-tourer.

Based on the 185hp / 101 lbs•ft 1190cc v-twin engine found in the Buell Hammerhead 1190 superbike, the American brand is touting the SuperTouring as the fastest production touring bike on the market.

Concrete details beyond that don’t exist, though the renders that Buell has shared on its website tell us a bit about what we can expect to see in Daytona, at 12:30pm on Saturday, March 5th.

The Buell SuperTouring 1190 will share a setup similar to that of the 1190 SX streetfighter, though with a more upright sitting position, fairing protection, and luggage options.

We expect the motor and chassis to be unchanged from the other 1190 models, which should mean a peaky power delivery, sporty handling, and the continued used of the controversial ZTL brake setup – though the latter should be better suited for this less-sporty segment application.

Tipped to be a 2023 model year machine, the Buell SuperTouring 1190 will come with a $21,995 MSRP – which is a pricy lump of change considering the generally bare bones offerings that the Buell brand has brought out before this model.

One would hope that Buell has updated its features and technology package to be more inline with the times, but that seems like an unlikely assumption given the company’s current status.

Instead, Buell will have to rely upon its name, American production, and generally straight-forward motorcycles to attract buyers – a trio of factors that haven’t born fruit for the brand in the past. Buell also has to contend with a meager, if not non-existent dealer network.

Will the Buell SuperTouring 1190 be a diamond in the rough, or another mark against the brand’s return? Time will tell. This debut certainly will be an interesting one from this storied name.
