Come Watch a Ducati Superleggera V4 Get Built

Those two-wheeled smut peddlers in Bologna are at it again, bringing you more NSFW content that will have you diving for the power switch should anyone walk by your workstation.

Releasing a video today that shows extensively the build process that goes into making a Superleggera V4 superbike, Ducati is promoting the fact that the carbon-fiber-everything machine has started production.

We also get word that Asphalt & Rubber will be swinging a leg over this bike in about a month’s time, and putting the Ducati Superleggera V4 through its paces at the Laguna Seca circuit in California.

Until that time, we can enjoy this not-so-short video that Ducati has produced.

We know that there are those out there that quite enjoy factory videos, and we can understand why – there is something rather cathartic about watching a motorcycle come together from just pieces.

Personally, we’re hoping for the director’s cut version of this video, with maybe double the build footage – we could watch this all day.

Maybe this video resides more in the ASMR category than the pornography section? You don’t have to be into $100,000 Italian motorcycles to enjoy this six-minute creation, though it certainly helps. Modern machines are amazing.

For this machine in particular, it is a 233hp (174 kW) fire-breather with the race exhaust installed (and you know every single one of these bikes will have the race exhaust installed), and tips the scales at 335.5 lbs (152.2 kg) dry. Amazing, indeed.

While it is harder to discern the power-to-weight ratio of the Superleggera V4 (though the copious amount of carbon fiber helps in that regard), what is immediately apparent is the MotoGP-derived aerodynamics.

Ducati says that this biplane-esque wing setup is almost double the downforce from its other winged models, with 110 lbs (50 kg) of downforce created at 167 mph (270 km/h).

Of course, the electronics are Ducati’s latest spec, honed in the WorldSBK and MotoGP paddocks. Mechanical Öhlins suspension pieces (with a titanium spring in the back), carbon fiber BST wheels, Pirelli tires, and Brembo Stylema R calipers complete the go-fast package.

Only 500 models of the Ducati Superleggera V4 will be made, and before you balk at the six-figure price tag, here is a fun fact: the percentage of Superleggera V4 superbikes being paid for in cash is higher than Ducati’s cheapest Scrambler model.
