Oberdan Bezzi has an interesting concept for us today, taking a peak into the world of Italian heritage at the motorcycle factory in Mandello del Lario, Italy.
We are of course talking about Moto Guzzi, and the bike in question is an idea that is built off the Moto Guzzi V85 platform, which we know Moto Guzzi is keen to use in a variety of motorcycles, not just the current V85 TT adventure-touring bike.
Dubbed the “Black Eagle”, the concept shows a sporty usage of the air-cooled 853cc transverse 90° v‐twin, with the bike using a half-fairing design, clip-ons, solo seat, and copious amounts of carbon fiber.
With 80hp on tap from the Moto Guzzi powerplant, this middleweight could be an interesting offering from the Italian brand, and we like the the lines that Bezzi has inked here. Scratch that…we really like them.
The shock placement is a little worrying (and looks to be without a progressive linkage), and we are not sure how light the eagle brand could get its V85 platform (the V85 TT tips the scales at 504 lbs), but our mouths are watering at the idea of a middleweight successor to the Moto Guzzi MGS-01.
The V85 platform has shown itself to be a hit with Moto Guzzi fans as well as those who are new to the brand. As such, it will be interesting to see how the Italians follow-up the success found with the V85 TT in their next model…and what that next model could be.
Moto Guzzi seems to be Piaggio’s heritage brand right now though, so it’s hard to say if a sport bike is on-brand for them, but the “Black Eagle” here certainly gets us thinking. Nice work, Obiboi.
