Yamaha Ténéré 700 Finally Coming to the USA in June

The long, long wait is almost over. The 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 finally has an arrival date for the United States, and that date is very soon indeed.

If you are one of the many that has been waiting for the Yamaha Ténéré 700, then you will be happy to know that the affordable ADV bike slated to hit US dealerships on the first week of June (that’s next week!).

This day has been a long day coming, ever since debuted the T7 concept debut at the 2016 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.

Yamaha disappointed the masses in 2017, showing the T7 again as a prototype, though it seemed that 2018 would be the year we would see the production bike. Of course, that didn’t work out either.

In 2018 we learned the hard news that the Yamaha Ténéré 700 would be a 2021 model in the USA (arriving in the second-half of 2020), while it was slated for a late-2019 arrival in the USA.

So you see, if you look at things the right way, today’s news means that despite the three-and-a-half-year tease/wait from Yamaha on the Ténéré 700, this mid-sized adventure-bike is arriving a whole month earlier than was originally expected.

Priced under $10,000 for the US market, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 promises to be a capable off-roader, with an even more approachable price tag.

Devoid of fancy electronics, bells, and whistles, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 is an ADV for the purists in the sport, and should be a good clean slate for more adventurous builds.

It will be interesting to see how the tuning fork brand’s new ADV competes in the now increasingly crowded middleweight ADV segment, especially against the KTM 790 Adventure R.

If you haven’t pre-ordered your Ténéré 700 from a Yamaha dealer already, you are likely to be SOL on this first delivery batch. Never fear though, Yamaha Motor USA says that more deliveries will be coming later in the summer and fall of this year.
