KTM 450 Rally Replica Debuts for the 2021 Racing Season

Not everyone can be like Toby Price, and enjoy the benefits of a factory seat inside the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, but you can at least get pretty close to having a true Dakar race bike, thanks to KTM offering a replica of its rally raid race bike.

Now with the latest installment of that customer-racer machine, we say hello to the KTM 450 Rally Replica for the 2021 racing season.

For those who aren’t in the know, the KTM 450 Rally Replica is designed to be a purchasable race bike from KTM, specifically for those who have eyes on performing at the top level of multi-stage cross-country rally style events.

The bike has been built with direct feedback from KTM factory riders Toby Price, Matthias Walkner, and Sam Sunderland, and it is only a couple shades away from what the factory riders race themselves.

As you would expect, the single-cylinder 450cc engine is fuel-injected and features a single overhead cam (good for at least 70hp we hear), held inside a bespoke racing chassis. Suspension is handled by WP XACT PRO closed cartridges, with cone valves – naturally.

KTM says that the bike weighs 306 lbs (139 kg) dry, though that heft will certainly go up when you top-off the 8.7 gallons of fuel tank that’s available (note: the entire rear subframe is a self-supporting plastic fuel tank).

The big changes for 2021 though come in the form of a new six-speed gearbox, which has a revised shifting mechanism.

Specifically, KTM says that the new 450 Rally Replica bike uses the same PANKL Racing Systems materials that are inside the factory team’s machines, which allows for a larger gear spread and improved reliability.

The gear ratio has also been changed, and is now the same set of ratios used by the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team riders.

Like what you hear? Well, if you want to buy a 2021 KTM 450 Rally Replica machine, it is going to cost you – €25,900 (plus VAT & shipping) to be exact.

Only 85 units will be made available worldwide, starting in September 2020 and onwards. KTM is also offering a service and support package for a limited number of KTM 450 Rally Replica riders at the Dakar Rally, at an additional cost.
