Winning two MotoGP races back-to-back has proved to good fortune for Jack Miller, as the Australian racer has just inked a deal with Ducati Corse that sees him staying on the factory team through the 2022 season.
While Miller was likely to see his contract renewed for the next season, his previous one-year contract was certainly some matter of concern for the 26-year-old.
“I am thrilled to be able to continue my adventure with the Ducati Lenovo Team also next season!” said Jack Miller. “Wearing these colors is a great honor for me, and having been able to win the last two races on the Desmosedici GP is a real dream!”
“It wouldn’t have been possible without the great support that I’ve received from Ducati and the whole team during the last months, and I want to thank Gigi, Paolo, Davide, and Claudio for the faith they had in me.”
“Now I can solely concentrate on the current season. We are fourth in the standings, not far from the leader, and the Championship is still very long. I will do my best to continue this positive trend and fight for the title. Forza Ducati!”
Currently sitting fourth in the 2021 MotoGP Championship, Miller represents one of Ducati’s best hopes for a rider championship since another Australian, Casey Stoner, was with the squad.
Coming straight from the Moto3 Championship into MotoGP, there has always been the question regarding Miller’s talent and place in the paddock. Over the past few seasons though, the Aussie has quieted many of those detractors, and now with a legitimate shot at the 2021 title, Miller is closer to realizing his own dream, as well as Ducati’s.
His signing today was always likely to occur, but now that it is done, it should be considered forward motion, for both parties involved.
