A fantastic ride by Bradley Smith. When everyone else changed to their wet setup bike he stayed out on slicks. The gamble paid off as he finished 2nd.
Scott Redding picked himself up off the floor to claim 3rd place and his debut MotoGP podium.
Jorge Lorenzo lead the early exchanges but crashed out on Lap 22 ,on his first flying lap after changing back to his dry setup M1 Yamaha.
Andrea Iannone finished just ahead of his teammate in 7th place.

The Rossi effect. A sellout crowd of 92,315 turned up to cheer on The Doctor. A huge roar would go up around the track whenever his name was mentioned or he appeared on screen.
Marc Marquez’s decision to change back to his slick-shod Honda earlier than his Yamaha rivals was the deciding factor.

He may not have made the podium for the first time this season but Valentino Rossi had plenty to celebrate. His lead in the championship was extended to 23 points after Jorge Lorenzo crashed out of the race.
