Dirt Quake, the grassroots flat track event, has been acquired by North One TV. The transaction sees North One TV acquiring both the Dirt Quake name, and the Dirt Quake events, with the core Dirt Quake team, including Gary Inman, staying on for the foreseeable future.
North One says that with the acquisition the media company plans to grow Dirt Quake internationally, with Dirt Quake already hosting popular events in the UK, Europe, and United States.
Presumably this means an expansion of Dirt Quake events into new markets, where flat track racing is already popular.
Already the home for Guy Martin’s various television shows, North One has the opportunity to appeal to an even larger (and younger) petrolhead crowd with its acquisition of Dirt Quake.
The next Dirt Quake event is at King’s Lynn in Norfolk, starting on Saturday, July 8th 2017. It will be the first Dirt Quake event that receives television coverage, with a one-hour special planned for ITV4 at 8pm, on Wednesday 12 July.
The King’s Lynn event will include World Superbike champions Carl Fogarty and Neil Hodgson, as well as Isle of Man TT starts John McGuinness and Guy Martin, the latter being a Dirt Quake veteran.
“Guy Martin introduced us to DirtQuake a few years ago and we’ve been watching the event grow with interest. We don’t want to change the DNA of the event but we certainly want to build on it,” said Neil Duncanson, CEO North One Television, talking about the acquisition.
“The UK DirtQuake only happens once a year in Norfolk, and we think more people around the world will welcome an event like this.”
“We’re in the business of building an audience, both live and on television, and we’re making a major investment in DirtQuake to make that happen. I’m extremely confident the event will be rewarding for anyone who loves bikes – and will still be hugely entertaining for anyone that doesn’t.”
