Rumor has it that Quantya is planning to make an electric sportbike that will rival the Zero SS. m24 uncovered the news at the EVS24 Green Vehicle Conference taking place in Stavanger, Norway.
mc24 was shown renderings of the bike, but unfortunately could not take pictures of the CG designs. Describing the design Ivar Kvadsheim said, “The best description I can give is Italian sportsbike styling…think Ducati 1198 or Cagiva Mito, but more angular.” We imagine a cross between KTM and Ducati styling. With a new 74-volt motor that makes 55bhp, and a 286lbs weight, speeds of of 100+ mph are likely to be attainable on the Quantya.
Quantya plans to launch the bike at EICMA in November, nearly the exact same time as the Zero SS electric sportbike is set to debut. Sales are anticipated to begin in March 2010. However with the added speed, comes an added price. Expect the Quantya sportbike to around €20,000, or $27,000.
