When it comes to long-range dirt riding, the Husqvarna 701 Enduro LR seems like the perfect choice, with its potent 75hp 690cc single-cylinder thumper, and its 6.6 gallons of fuel capacity.
The model is a new one for the 2020, and was shown to us at last year’s EICMA show in Milan with quite the positive reception. There is just one problem though: what if you already have a Husqvarna 701 Enduro?
Realizing that many riders are not going to trade in their bikes for one that simply has a larger fuel capacity, the smart minds at Husqvarna have decided to make the cleverly named “Additional Fuel Tank Kit” available for current 701 owners.
As you would expect, the kit includes all the necessary hardware to take the Husqvarna 701 from its 3.2-gallon stock configuration, to a explore-everywhere 6.6-gallon setup.
This includes the roto-molded front fuel tanks, an additional fuel pump with a handlebar switch, new plastics and seat, as well as some graphics.
The package should be good for anyone who is doing deep exploriation on a 701 dirt bike (we see no reason why the 701 Supermoto couldn’t benefit from this kit too, by the way), though we think riders who are looking at making the 701 into a proper ADV machine will be most intrigued by today’s news.
Husqvarna says that the new kit is available at all Husqvarna dealerships, starting in April…but then goes on to say that availability will vary by country, which is a bit contradictory.
With the Husqvarna 701 Enduro LR hitting dealerships in Europe now, we imagine the kits aren’t far behind, though we wait to see when availability will come to the USA. There is no word on price, at this moment.
