Continuing to develop their MotoGP entry, FB Corse has announced their intent to participate in the Qatar testing session, which is schedule to start on March 17th. In confirming their attendance in Qatar, FB Corses Principal Andrea Ferrari also confirmed that the team would not be attending MotoGP’s testing session at Sepang, Malaysia in February. More on this and sneak photos of the FB Corse MotoGP race bike after the jump.
Instead of making the trek to Asia, FB Corse has chosen to stick closer to home and test in Spain, as Ferrari explained, “we’d prefer to stay closer to our engineering base. At this stage, it wouldn’t be appropriate to go all the way to Malaysia.”
While John Hopkins has been linked (and unlinked..and then linked again) to the FB Corse effort, there still remains some doubt as to the American’s level of commitment to the Italian team. But according to Ferrari, Hopper will be in Italy with the team, and is exepcted to be present at testing sessions where Luca Cadalora will be at the helm of the three-cylinder ex-BMW race bike.
Hopper is also expected to be in attendance at the team’s official unveiling on January 21st, where hopefully we’ll learn more about the team, its sponsors, and the bike’s full details. Until then MotoGP fans, more as we get it.
