What happens when an immoveable object joins forces with an unstoppable force? The result might look like the latest news from the Isle of Man TT, where this year’s race will see Michael Dunlop onboard with Tyco BMW.
Of course, Michael Dunlop is a top favorite to win at this year’s TT, and the Tyco squad is certainly no stranger to making the BMW S1000RR go lightning fast around the Mountain Course.
To make matters worse for the competition, the BMW S1000RR is already a machine that Dunlop has shown good results with, in past TT fortnights, and as such we expect big things from the collaboration.
According to the press release documents, Dunlop will compete with Tyco BMW at the 2018 Isle of Man TT, as well as other road racing events this season, including the North West 200 and Ulster GP.
For the Isle of Man, Dunlop will campaign in both the Superbike TT and Senior TT races onboard the TAS Racing prepared Tyco BMW S1000RR, and all eyes are on the 28-year-old, and whether he best his outright lap record.
Of note, Michael Dunlop is the only rider ever to lap the Isle of Man TT’s Mountain Course in under 17 minutes.
“Tyco BMW and I have spoken many times but nothing ever came of it, but this year everything fell into place,” said Dunlop. “I think it’s a good time for us both to work together and I think both of us can bring something to the table. I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome”
The Isle of Man TT kicks off with the first laps turned on May 26th, and first race being the Superbike TT, which is scheduled for June 2nd.
