It is with a heavy heart that we report another fatality at the Isle of Man TT, as newcomer Adam Lyon died during today’s Race 1 of the Supersport TT.
The 26-year-old from Helensburgh, Scotland was involved in an accident around Casey’s, just after the 28th mile-marker, during the third lap of the race.
Despite this being his first year at the Isle of Man TT, Lyon qualified an impressive 24th for today’s race, with a best lap of 123.443 mph set during Friday’s superbike qualifying session.
Adam was a promising road-racing talent, and just last year he finished 11th at the Ulster Grand Prix in the supersport race. Additionally in 2010, he finished 6th in the 2010 Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship, with podiums at Croft and Silverstone.
Our deepest condolences go out to Adam Lyon’s family and friends. Everyone will mourn his passing.
