If you have a Ducati Hypermotard 950 from the first model year (2019) in your garage, then you might want to take a look at your kickstand, as it might not have been welded properly.

According to recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, on a small batch of motorcycles, the kickstand may not have been manufactured correctly.

An improper weld that joins the tube to the forged part could affect the reliability of component. The non-conforming components may have an improper weld.

If the defect occurs, the side stand could break at the weld that joins the tube to the forged part on the top. The bike could fall down increasing the risk of injury.

The recall concerns bikes manufactured between January 7, 2010 and March 29, 2019. That range means that 205 motorcycles could be impacted by this recall.

To remedy the issue, Ducati dealers will install a new kickstand, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 22, 2021.

Concerned Ducati Hypermotard 950 owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. Ducati’s number for this recall is SRV-RCL-21-011.
