If you bought a Ducati Scrambler Nightshift this year, then your bike is up for a recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for front and rear turn signals that don’t flash brightly enough.
Because the issue runs afoul of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment”, a recall is required. In total, 228 motorcycles are affected by this recall.
According to recall documents, an error on this Scrambler Nightshift’s bill of material cause the motorcycles to be assembled with the incorrect front and rear turn indicators, which do not guarantee the “effective projected luminous lens area requirements” required by the FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) No. 108.
To remedy the issue, Ducati dealers will replace the front and rear turn signals, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 23, 2021.
Concerned Nightshift owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446. Ducati’s number for this recall is SRV-RCL-21-009. As always, the NHTSA is also available at 1-888-327-4236 and safercar.gov
