A new Triumph Street Triple R is coming, say the folks at MCN. The British paper has always had an unusually close relationship with Triumph Motorcycles, so we have every reason to believe that the British marque will be showing this new bike on the quoted February 11th date.
As one would expect, the 2020 Triumph Street Triple R will be based off the recently debuted and revised Triumph Street Triple RS, though with lower-spec components.
The bike will surely be Euro5 compliant (with its new 765cc three-cylinder engine), and quotes from Triumph, published by MCN, suggest that the new Street Triple R could be cheaper than its predecessor.
If true, pricing could be the killer feature on the Triumph Street Triple R for the 2020 model year. It also means that Triumph is going after the KTM 790 Duke with both barrels, as the orange bike already comes in under the £9,000 mark in the UK (€11,500 in Europe), and is a paltry $10,600 MSRP in the USA.
If Triumph can match those price points with the new Street Triple R, and leave more meat on the bones for riders, the British brand will have a very serious offering for the naked sport bike segment.
In turn, this could make the launch of the 2020 Triumph Street Triple R a very important one to watch. Stay tuned on February 11th.
