The folks at Motociclismo.it are reporting that a KTM 1290 Super Duke RR is going to drop in the coming days – news that our own Bothan Spies are giving good vibrations about as well.
The concept behind the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR is pretty simple: it will be a version of the current streetfighter, complete with a bevy of farkles and go-fast parts from the Austrian brand to make it even more of a hooligan machine on the street and track.
A rumored 9 kg (20 lbs) has been taken off the new-and-improved KTM 1290 Super Duke R to make “The Beast RR” – thanks to a liberal dosage of carbon fiber, specifically a carbon composite tail section.
Other items of note are forged aluminum wheels, an Akrapovic exhaust, and WP Apex Pro suspension pieces. Lighter levers, new air tubes, and other bits are also included in the overall package.
Our expectation is that the Beast RR is designed to take on the Ducati Streetfighter V4 S on price and certain performance aspects – namely the suspension and wheels – as the Italian naked has certainly infringed on the Austrian’s territory this year.
As such, we are expecting a price tag north of $20,000 of the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR in the US market.
It is not clear when we could see this bike debut, but reasonable guesses would be in the next couple of weeks, as we are now in the time slot for the EICMA show reveals. Stay tuned!
