The Triumph Speed Triple is headed for an update in 2021, as the Brits have started teasing the release of the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS motorcycle.
Set to break cover on January 26th, we have only two weeks to wait in order to see all the details about the 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS and likely its sister models in their various trim packages.
As the name suggests, the 1050cc three-cylinder engine is getting bumped up to a 1200cc capacity, likely in part to help the performance figures while still hitting the Euro5 emission targets.
In the RS trim level, we can guess pretty easily that the components will be top shelf, with Öhlins suspension, Brembo brakes (with Stylema calipers), and forged aluminum wheels.
The question though is whether the Speed Triple 1200 RS will bring some more grit to the naked motorcycle, which over the years has slipped from streetfighter to roadster in its approach and implementation.
With the streetfighter category heating up this year and last, Triumph has some big expectations to fill if they want the Speed Triple 1200 line to compete against the new offerings, like the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, BMW S1000R, Ducati Streetfighter V4, and KTM 1290 Super Duke RR.
We’ll see in 14 days what the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS has to offer. Stay tuned.
