The folks over at Triumph are making a gradual cacophony about their 2022 lineup, which is going to be full of some intriguing machines for diehard motorcyclists.
One of the bikes that has our attention is the Triumph Speed Triple RR – which will be a retro-inspired café racer, with a half-fairing, for the 2022 model year.
Built on the recently overhauled Speed Triple 1200 platform, we expect some potent specs for the “RR” designation, and the folks at Hinckley are claiming that “it’s the most sophisticated, stunning and focused Speed Triple ever – beautifully designed, fully engaged, totally committed and loaded with performance.”
“Sophisticated” and “stunning” are relative words in marketing speak, but we can expect a 178hp fire-breather of a three-cylinder engine, loaded with electronics that are assisted by an IMU, and a wet weight that is in the neighborhood of 440 lbs.
Debuting another teaser video for the machine, we see further proof that the RR designation will come with a café racer inspired design, with a round LED headlight and half-fairing bikini fairing confirmed by the video’s final scene.
These styling cue will set the Speed Triple RR apart in Triumph’s lineup, mixing a little bit of the British brand’s retro flare with its more modern offerings.
The retro-modern look is coming back to a certain extent in the sport bike realm, helped with hits like the MV Agusta Superveloce 800.
And, with the potent package that is the current Speed Triple 1200, we expect good things coming from Triumph.
We won’t have to wait too long to see the 2022 Triumph Speed Triple RR in the flesh, as the launch for the new bike is scheduled for September 14th. Stay tuned!
