Ducati is teasing the arrival of something special, with the number “21” on it, with an online event scheduled for Thursday, July 22nd. That is all the official information that we have…
But, reading the tea leaves it is pretty clear to see what the Italian brand is up to at the Bologna factory, with the number “21” having a particular significance with Ducatisti.
This is because 21 is the racing number of Troy Bayliss, and the photo included in the press anouncement appears to be emblazoned on a motorcycle.
That motorcycle is surely a Ducati Panigale V4 S, which would signal the arrival a special edition Troy Bayliss version of the potent superbike.
Limited edition models have been a popular occurrence for Ducati owners, with the Australian racer loved the world over for his on-track prowess and off-track personality.
With the Panigale V4 getting close to its end-of-life in the product planning, the time for some special editions seems ripe from the Italian brand, and we can’t think of a more fitting tribute to the three-time WorldSBK champion.
Check back in a couple days to see what the “official” fuss is all about, but start saving your dollars now – we doubt this Panigale V4 is going to be cheap. The last time a Bayliss V4 from Ducati (see below) was up for auction it cleared almost $100,000.
