Unveiled at the COP15 United Nations Climate Conference in Denamrk, the Copenhagen Wheel system was developed by Ducati Energia, MIT’s SENSEable City Lab, and Progical Solutions for the Kobenhavns Kommune (City of Copenhagen), and is an electrical drive system that can be added to any bicycle to help assist the rider with a boost of extra power. Along with its motor assist, the Copenhagen Wheel has a variety of sensors that relay information back to the rider via a Bluetooth connection that syncs with the rider’s smart phone (iPhone used in the demonstration). It’s a pretty cool concept, check after the jump a video and more.
Ducati North America has announced that the Hypermotard 796 will be in dealerships before the New Year, and some dealerships will have the new motard as early as this weekend (that’s tomorrow, or today if you work in the A&R office!).
If you’re having a hard time finding the right gift for that special motorcyclist in your life, this might be the chance to get them what they really want this year. Nothing says Merry Christmas like a $9,995 lightweight red Ducati Hypermotard 796 with a bow on it. Press release after the jump.
If you’ve ever been to San Marco Square in Venice, Italy, then you’ve surely been bombarded by the flying-rats we call pigeons that lay reign over the city’s square. Milan, located only about a couple of hours away from Venice, had an avis rex of its own during the EICMA motorcycle show: the 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200.
Taking the show’s honors as the top bike on display, and surely one of the most hyped motorcycles of the year, the Multistrada 1200 won over crowds, despite its face…literally. Love it or hate it, but the bird-beaked bike is here to stay, and we’ve got all sorts of delicious pictures of it after the jump.
Ducati North America has announced the delivery dates of its 2010 model line-up to the US dealerships, with the bulk of the new Ducati’s arriving in February, while the Multistrada 1200 comes to us in April & May. Click past the jump for a full price and arrival schedule.
By now you’ve surely seen the new 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200, which was launched at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. Replacing the collectively agreed upon ugly Multistrada, the MS 1200 also has questionable taste in its design. Love it or hate it, the new Multistrada 1200 competes with the BMW GS at every turn, even in the ugliest bike category.
After unveiling the 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 in Milan this past week, Ducati has now also released pricing information on the new model in its various forms. The new Multistrada 1200 will range in prices which begin at $14,995 and go all the way up to $19,995. Click past the jump for a full price breakdown.
It seems Ducati is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to its 2010 model line. Getting some EICMA love, the 2010 Ducati Monster 696 and 2010 Ducati Monster 1100 will feature an option for an anti-lock braking system (ABS), as well as some other minor updates. More on this after the jump.
Along with updating the Ducati 1098R’s nomenclature to the 1198 naming that’s being used with the base and “S” model, Ducati has also released two special edition motorcycles that will use the new 1198R designation. The first new model is the same Troy Bayliss replica that was available last year (sans a new gas tank), but Ducati has also released the 2010 Ducati 1198R Corse Special Edition. Photos and more after the jump.
After updating their company logo last year at EICMA, Ducati felt it was time to get the Ducati Corse logo in-line with the new company branding. As such, at Milan this week the company announced a new racing logo, which has already begun to show up in the United States, and will work its way into Europe and other markets as they deplete current usage of the old mark.
After unveiling the 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP, we were impressed with the new performance specs, but the look of the bike really hadn’t changed that much. Enticing us to empty our wallets further, Ducati put together an EVO SP will an assortment of their official Ducati accessories kit, and the result is stunning. Click past the jump to see the pictures of it straight from the floors of EICMA.
UPDATE: The 848 Dark will be the same spec as the standard 848, photos now added.
We had expected to see a new Ducati 848 unveiled at EICMA this week, but the model we were expecting was a higher spec version of the bike, an 848S. Instead Ducati brings us the 2010 Ducati 848 Dark, which will retail a full $1,000 less than “base” 848.
